Variable data is the printing of varying numbers or data onto each individual card. This can be used to number your cards with different numbers, add a specific name to each card, and much more! We charge our variable data per line, and it comes in a generic font. We can either do the variable data sequentially if given a starting number, or we can do a specific set of numbers/information if given a spreadsheet.
We offer our variable data in either solid variable data, white variable data, or laser engraved variable data.
- We can print letters, numbers, and all symbols that can be typed out on the computer.
- Variable data cannot be printed centered, it can only print left-aligned or right-aligned. Be sure to keep this in mind when designing your card layout.
- The maximum number of digits we can print on one line is 40, using the smallest size font which can be hard to read.
Solid Variable Data
- Solid variable data is black and can be printed on any plastic or cardstock.
- It prints glossy and slightly raised, like raised UV.
- If there is a dark or colored background, we will typically add a white box where the data is on your proof.
White Variable Data
- White variable data can ONLY be printed on 30 mil gloss plastic or 30 mil pearlescent plastic.
- It can only be printed on standard sized cards, either 3.375” x 2.125” or 3.5” x 2”.
- The printed data is flat and does not shine, and it does have a slightly longer timeframe than the solid variable data.
Laser Variable Data
- Laser variable data can be printed on plastic or metal cards.
- Since it is burned into the card, on plastic it will look orange-ish from the burn marks and it is slightly recessed into the card.
- Laser variable data requires a custom quote for pricing on plastic.
